MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – A Group of Friends against human trafficking has been set up at the United Nations on Belarus’ initiative. Now it includes 20 states – members of the organization, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
These are Belarus, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bolivia, Venezuela, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Nicaragua, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Philippines and Ecuador.
The Group of Friends is an open informal and a voluntary association which has been set up to facilitate the global fight against human trafficking. To strengthen the UN role in counteracting this evil the Group proposes to develop the global action plan to counteract human trafficking. The plan will develop the initiative to build the Global Partnership against human trafficking announced by Belarus back in 2005.
