Belarusian, Lithuanian defense ministries ink cooperation plan for 2010

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – The defense ministries of Belarus and Lithuania have signed a military cooperation plan for 2010, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry had hosted military cooperation consultations between the Belarusian and Lithuanian defense ministries. Representatives of the International Military Cooperation Office of the Belarusian Defense Ministry and the International Relations and Operations Department of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry took part in the consultations. The sides summed up results and discussed near-future prospects of military cooperation between the two countries. Participants of the consultations also shared views on topical issues relating to the European security and armed forces development.
Signing of the plan for military cooperation between the two ministries in 2010 was the main result of the consultations.
The plan provides for stepping up cooperation in finance and economy, control over arms, peacemaking, information and public relations, environmental protection at military installations. The two ministries will also continue cooperating in areas of law and army procurement, fulfillment of a bilateral agreement on additional trust and security measures, enhanced studies of foreign languages by military personnel and other things.
